Familiar faces within the Durham Region arts community were in attendance, bumping into those who don’t usually attend such a thing, but had to know what all the fuss was about. Some have been waiting for this event since last year, others happened upon it while out for a Friday night. Whatever lead them to this spot of creativity and laughter, visitors left impressed.
The vendors had people talking in awe at the talent we have throughout our region. Portraits were drawn by Whitby artist Zi Chen, creature creator Aiden Beatty taught onlookers how to play with his unique trading cards, Chris of Champstiles Woodburning Toronto spoke about his wood burned art, henna decorated bodies and the Stone Goddess sold healing stone jewelry; with so many others causing a buzz.
The night began with a parade, and musical performances, like by The Professors of Funk had people moving – bodies keeping warm despite approaching fall weather. Towards the end Silver Elvis wooed as Hairy Holler performed, leading onlookers through the street, inviting them to continue the celebrations at Wasted Space.
The fun continues today from Noon until 6 p.m., Wednesday September 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday September 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. , Friday September 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday September 27 from Noon to 6 p.m.
